Google rolled out a new version of their Google Analytics software earlier this week. So far it seems like a massive improvement over the previous version, mostly due to the excellent graphs they are now presenting.
It is an example of the power of great data visualization. I highly recommend you check it out.
OK, here is my art dork moment. I was so excited when I first spotted the Rasberry Mint that I exclaimed to the check out person “I designed the art on that.” as I pointed toward the gum package she was scanning. She looked at the package and then at me and said “You did these dots? That’ll be $8.73.”Yes I created those dots…..exit stage right.
Just rolled out another feature. When you log in you will now see a link called ‘voted up’.
This will show you all the images that you have voted up. This lets you keep bookmarks of all the images you have seen on the site and liked.
Hi! Just a heads up to let you know that I’ve tweaked the algorithm that determines the order of the images on the ‘hot’ page.
The tweaks take into account the age of the images to determine which images are deemed hottest, not just the number of votes.

On Friday I released a new & much improved bookmarklet.
What’s new? Well if you use the new bookmarklet, a pop up window will appear that shows small previews of the images that are on the current web page. You can then simply point and click on the image you want to submit.
You can now also specify the keywords you want to apply to the image straight away.
The new bookmarklet makes it a lot easier to submit cool images - I strongly recommend you try it out! If you have any feedback on this, just let me know via the feeback form on the eye it up! site.
A very cool site for your inner data or chart geek:
Swivel is a place where curious people explore data — all kinds of data.
Swivel lets you explore data and share your insights with others. Swivel has data about politics, economics, weather, sports, business and more.

I’ve rolled out the initial support for keywords or tagging on eye it up!
Anyone can add or edit keywords to the images that have been submitted. This could be pretty anarchic, but I’m going to see how people use the feature before locking it down any more. I’m hoping we’ll see wiki style corrections to any abuse… hey, I’m an optimist!
If you click on a keyword you’ll see all other images that have been marked with that keyword also.
The search function doesnt yet check the keywords though - thats coming up next. And after that? A much cooler bookmarklet for submitting images.
…has now been enabled.
You obviously wont score any points if you submit an image anonymously, but the option is there if you want it.
